This caused Elyse's grand and great grandmothers to bring out fine china that had not been used in 20 years because it was never "the right moment to bring it out".  They had a wonderful inter-generational tea party dressed in their finest clothes and using their best dishes that had been locked away for years.

Elyse's great grandmother passed away shortly thereafter and her grandma told me how grateful she was for that tea party and the memories created by sharing that time with her own mother and her only

granddaughter.  It was so poignant, particularly because my 90 year old grandmother joined us for Olivia's party and had such a wonderful time. Those moments are so precious.

So, your creations extend beyond the designated birthday. They plant seeds of wonder and imagination in children that last for years. And, they inspire adults to dust off their valuable dishes and create memories that endure forever. Have an amazing trip! You deserve it!!

                                                                                                Nikki

Education Review: Washington area classes and camps

offer skills kids don't learn at school

by Julia Duin

TWMB received a glittering recommendation in the Washington Post Magazine.  A rich tradition in life skills is being reborn through a colorful lineup of classes in the D.C. metro area.

How about for you?

By Janice D'Arcy

A fun way to help your child address other adults properly is to introduce your child to the adult by the name they wish to be called.  Don't forget, asking your child to introduce you to their new friends gives them an opportunity show respect and authority in using good manners.

What's so bad about SLURPING?

By Margaret Webb-Pressler

At TWMB we like to be in the company of good and thoughtful manners.  We teach the A-B-C's of manners then  provide an environment to practice putting those letters into words and then sentences.  One must practice good manners just as one would practice piano or soccer.

Imagination Bethesda: We love participating the the annual Imagination Bethesda Street Festival where we host pretend tea parties and make lovely crafts that remind us to always use our manners.

A Wacky and Whimsical Tea with Mrs. B to benefit THEARC: We love THEARC and all they do.  Our last tea was inspired by Alice in Wonderland and the year prior, Dr. Seuss.  The Four Seasons Georgetown is the perfect location for such an occasion!

A Day at the Country Club: Mrs. B branches out to lovely new places in the DC area! We hosted a two-session Dinning Etiquette Class for kids of all ages at the Chevy Chase Country Club as well as hosted the Honey Bee Mine Valentine Tea Party for their members.

Young men using their manners: The College Tribe high school senior gentlemen brushed up on their manners with a two-part series in Communication, Business and Dining Etiquette.  What bright young men!

Daily Candy: Daily Candy DC-Kids wrote a delightful article on Tea with Mrs. B.

Camp, Camp, Camp: One of Mrs. B’s favorite movies, Troop Beverly Hills, was a model for Mrs. B’s camps!  Each week Mrs. B’s campers practiced the art of poise and manners while having a BLAST!

Lebanese Taverna: One of our favorite places to eat Lebanese Taverna had us host some manners programs: ABC’s of dining g classes and a traditional Hafla: Lebanese Party!  It was a great success!

Hot off the press: Bethesda Magazine (March/April 2009, page 42) highlighted TWMB and Artworks in the Our Town: Shop Talk section. Yeah!

FROM HAPPY PARENTS:

Mrs. B,

A very special thanks to you and your outstanding team from all of my family.  When my wife told me our daughter’s birthday would be a tea party this year I have to admit that I was kinda like ... uh, o.k., so what am I going to do at a tea party?  But within 5 seconds of entering your place today I totally got it.  And I could not stop smiling the whole time I was there.  I thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon and the girls had a blast.  You and your ladies and butler were so awesome.  The energy, the presentation, the flow, everything...awesome.  I could go on and on with superlatives but I shall not but I will say it again,  "Thank you so very much".

                                                                                Sincerely,

                                                                                  Steven

Mrs. B,

I just returned from a parent's social for Olivia's class and

literally every girls' parent (male and female) couldn't stop talking

about how much their daughter enjoyed Olivia's party at Tea With Mrs.

B. One mother said "she's legendary, you know...my neighbor was so

excited that my daughter could experience one of her parties". One

father said "Nanelle came home all made up and so excited! We loved

the little earrings and her painted nails!"

But my personal favorite is from Elyse's grandmother (they live across

the street and referred your services). Elyse's grandma came over to

my house to pick her up after the party. She told me that 2 years ago,

Elyse attended one of your parties and loved it. Elyse later visited

with her grandma and great-grandmother in Virginia and requested a tea

party, insisting that they use "the good stuff, like Mrs. B".

(Grandma had no idea who you were).
